April 7th - La Cruz La Joya 108

David had the dinghy lifted today. We've had a slow leak in it, the bilge pump handles it, but we want to have Sea Tek fix it while we are waiting.

This is a picture of S/V Rebel Heart being rescued 900 miles off the Mexican shore. Rebel Heart was moored here in La Cruz for several months while we have nene here. This family has been preparing for their trip around the world for some time and was very prepared. We never actually met Eric and Charlotte but we knew of their boat and family. Their are many families with small kids that sail and motor around the world. As David and I know, sometimes things happen that can require rescue. We didn't need to be rescued but if we did, I would certainly be thankful. I have found it very hard to read and here how much negativity is out there about how irresponsible these parents are and how they should pay for the rescue. My heart goes out to them and know that they must feel sick to lose their ship and have their journey end this way. Glad they are all safe and sound.

Last night we heard from cousin Fred Z. Fred is actually more like a brother to David. His dad Larry is in the hospital due to complications of congestive heart failure from a massive stroke he suffered in December. Betty his Mom is also nearing end of life with Alsheimer's and falls. David called Fred and had a great visit with him while we were enjoying the view from the rooftop. We love you Fred. Be strong as you need to deal with this difficult and sad phase of life.
