May 5th - Agua Verde to Isla San Francisco

Left Agua Verde at 8:00. We have a 52 n.m. trip and hope to get anchored before any winds pick up. Beautiful sunrise today.

Back in the beautiful waters of Isla SF, we made it in at 2:30. We fished about half the way but no bites.

Only about 5 boats here today. Perfect. Swam and had a couple of beers, then hit the shower and came up to hear a hail on the radio from S/V Enshente. They are 36' and about 5 mile SE of Isla SF and dead in the water. They had made it this far all the way from Mazatlan and hit a long line. Alan and Lindy had tried diving and pulling a bunch of the line out but they still couldn't run their engine. No wind to sail, the were calling out for help to get towed to our anchorage before dark.

They called us "Super Heroes", we dropped the dinghy and hopped in to find them. Got around the island and got a slight visual on their big spinnaker sail and took off. It was then that we started thinking hmmmm, we forgot our life jackets and how much gas is in the dinghy? Only a 1/2 tank. What if we run out of gas?! It took us about 45 minutes to reach them. The water was smooth as glass, no wind. If it was like yesterday, there would have been no way! We tied up to the side and propelled us both at about 4.2 knots and Alan steered with Enshente. We had a nice sunset on the way back and made it to the anchorage with gas to spare after dark, about 9:00. "Super Heroes". Nice.
